Understanding Iran: What Americans Need to Know

The United States has come dangerously close to war with Iran, but most Americans are unaware of the complex foreign policy relationship the two countries share.

Join us for a presentation by academic experts on the history of U.S.-Iran relations. A panel discussion and Q&A session will follow the presentations.

Presenters

  • Shahrzad Amadi, Professor of History, University of St. Thomas, speaking on the recent history of U.S.-Iran relations, and the effects of sanctions.
  • William Beeman, Chair of the Anthropology Department, University of Minnesota, author of “The Great Satan vs. the Mad Mullahs: How the United States and Iran Demonize Each Other”
  • Sara Parhizgari, graduate student, University of Minnesota, speaking on an Iranian student’s experiences in the United States

No registration needed.

The program will be held in the Bridge Room at Sunrise Banks Corporate Headquarters. Parking is available on-site.
