Opportunities and Challenges for the United States in the Western Pacific

Join the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association Upper Midwest Chapter and Global Minnesota for a special presentation by the Honorable Richard Armitage, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, as he discusses opportunities and challenges for the United States in the Western Pacific. Secretary Armitage’s presentation is part of the Donald W. McCarthy Heartland Leadership Forum.

About the Speaker

Richard Armitage, is a distinguished Naval Academy graduate from the class of 1967 and served three combat tours with the riverine forces in Vietnam. He was the 13th Deputy Secretary of State from 2001 to 2005. An acknowledged expert in international affairs, he was recently awarded the U.S. Department of State Distinguished Service Award and has been personally recognized by the governments of Thailand, Republic of Korea, Bahrain, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, and Pakistan. He is active in the global marketplace assisting multinational companies in the areas of international business development, strategic planning, and problem-solving.

The evening includes a cocktail hour with a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, and a three-course dinner. There will be a Q&A session after Secretary Armitage’s address followed by a photo opportunity with Secretary Armitage.
