Culture Through Cuisine: Ethiopia

July 22, 2019 @ 6:00 pm CDT

/ $40 – $50

This event is SOLD OUT. Registration is closed.

The Twin Cities is home to one of the largest Ethiopian diaspora populations in the United States, including a large number of ethnic Oromo people. And, the Minneapolis-St. Paul area has a correspondingly delicious and vibrant dining scene, such as Dilla’s Ethiopian Restaurant. Positioned as a stop along ancient trade routes, Ethiopia boasts cuisine that has creatively infused cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, fenugreek, turmeric, and other spices for centuries.

Join us at Dilla’s Ethiopian Restaurant for a traditional Ethiopian meal of beef, lamb, chicken, and vegetables cooked in a variety of flavors including Ethiopia-grown chili peppers, ginger, garlic, onions, basil, and more. We’ll hear from representatives from United Oromo Voices on the community and culture of the local Oromo diaspora. The evening will also include a traditional tea ceremony.

Registration includes dinner, non-alcoholic beverages, tax, and gratuity. Cash bar also available. Advance registration and prepayment required.

Event vouchers accepted. To register with a voucher, please call us at 612.625.1662. You must bring voucher(s) to the event to redeem.

Presented in partnership with United Oromo Voices.
